Carta Drive uses your Google account to access only the Google Drive data
it creates or that you open through the app. It asks for the
drive.appdata and drive.file permissions. It does not
operate a separate account or bookshelf server.
The app saves book metadata and book server settings in the hidden application data area of your Google Drive. These records can include book titles, source links, reading progress, and server addresses. Audio files downloaded for playback remain on your device. WebDAV usernames and passwords are kept in secure storage on your device and are not uploaded to Google Drive by Carta Drive.
If you create a shared library, the app creates a separate file in your Drive and gives anyone with its link read access. That file contains the library name and book list, but no WebDAV credentials. Do not put private information in a library you share.
The app saves your Google account identifier and email address locally so it can reopen your bookshelf without asking you to sign in each time. It also keeps a local copy of the last synced bookshelf for offline use. Google Sign-In handles access tokens. Signing out disconnects the account in the app; it does not delete files already stored in Google Drive.
When you use a WebDAV server or open an online catalog, the app contacts that service directly. It checks GitHub for new releases. Those services receive the requests needed to provide their content. Carta Drive does not include its own analytics or advertising service.
